HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3580CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 35«n A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE THE FAA'S AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (AIP) GRANT APPLICATION AND ACCEPTANCE DOCUMENTS TO IMPLEMENT AIRSIDE/LANDSIDE SEPARATION PROJECTS, AND AUTHORIZING THE AIRPORT MANAGER AS THE CITY'S OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVE IN THIS MATTER. WHEREAS, the Renton Municipal Airport Airside/Landside Separation and Security Plan, completed in June 2002, identified the need to better separate landside and airside activities and improve access through the airport's perimeter fence; and WHEREAS, the projects that have evolved from this Plan include the installation of several electric vehicle gates and pedestrian gates with new perimeter fencing; and WHEREAS, the benefits anticipated from this project include: reduction in the number of runway incursions caused by vehicles entering flight critical areas, consohdation of access points through the perimeter fence, increased control of vehicles and pedestrians entering through the perimeter fence, reduction in the amount of runway FOD (foreign object damage) from debris due to relocation of garbage dumpsters, and a generally improved airport appearance; and WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has designated a $150,000 Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant to the Renton Airport for improving the separation of airside and landside activities, which will assist the City in offsetting the cost of this project; and WHEREAS, this project will begin in August 2002 and finish in December 2002; and RESOLUTION NO. 3580 WHEREAS, Ryan Zulauf is the Airport Manager for the City of Renton and is the official representative of the City to act in connection with this apphcation and to provide such additional information as may be required; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above findings are true and correct in all respects. SECTION II. The City Council does hereby authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the FAA's AIP grant apphcation and acceptance documents for the Airside/Landside Separation projects, and authorizes Airport Manager Ryan Zulauf to act as the official representative of the City in connection with this apphcation.
