RESOLUTION NO. 3605
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE FREIGHT ACTION STRATEGY (FAST)
PARTNERSHIP, PHASE II, ENTITLED "MEMORANDUM ' OF
UNDERSTANDING AMONG THE PRINCIPAL PARTIES OF THE
F.A.S.T. CORRIDOR."
WHEREAS, the fast, efficient and reliable movement of freight is vital to the economic
health and well-being of the Puget Sound Region, the State of Washington and the nation as a
whole; and
WHEREAS, in 1996 the Freight Action Strategy (FAST) partnership was formed
between transportation agencies, economic development organizations, and trucking and business
interests to focus on freight mobility issues in the Puget Sound Region; and
WHEREAS, Renton and many other cities in the Puget Sound area, including Seattle and
Tacoma, are members of FAST, Phase I; and
WHEREAS, the FAST corridor is a collection of complementary grade-separation and
port access projects within the Everett-Seattle-Tacoma area, which will enhance the movement of
freight in the region; and
WHEREAS, Renton's Strander Boulevard/SW 27th Street Corridor project was listed as
a Candidate Future FAST Corridor Project, and was prioritized by the FAST partners in Spring
2002;and
WHEREAS, entering into this "Memorandum of Understanding" will bring Renton to
Phase II of FAST;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects.
SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an
agreement with the Freight Action Strategy (FAST) Partnership, Phase II, entitled "Memorandum
of Understanding Among the Principal Parties of the FAST Corridor."
