RESOLUTION NO. 3498
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO A
FRANCHISE AGREEMENT WITH KING COUNTY ALLOWING THE
RENTON WASTEWATER UTILITY TO OPERATE, MAINTAIN,
REPAIR, AND CONSTRUCT SANITARY SEWER MAINS AND
SERVICE LINES AND APPURTENANCES IN, OVER, ALONG, AND
UNDER COUNTY ROADS AND RIGHTS-OF-WAY.
WHEREAS, the City of Renton adopted the 1998 Long-Range Management Plan in
November 1999; and
WHEREAS, the 1998 Long-Range Management Plan identifies the service area for the
Renton sanitary sewer utility; and
WHEREAS, portions of the Renton sewer service area are outside Renton's city limits;
and
WHEREAS, King County requires that Renton enter into a franchise agreement in order
to install and/or operate sanitary sewer facilities in those areas that are not within city limits;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects.
SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into a
franchise with King County allowing the Renton Wastewater Utility to operate, maintain, repair,
and construct sanitary sewer mains and service lines and appurtenances in, over, along, and under
County roads and rights-of-way.
