RESOLUTION NO. 3503
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO A
LOCAL AGENCY AGREEMENT FOR THE DESIGN AND
SUBSEQUENT PHASES OF THE LOGAN AVENUE BRIDGE SEISMIC
RETROFIT.
WHEREAS, the Logan Avenue Bridge crossing the Cedar River, built in 1973, carries
seven lanes of heavy arterial traffic with barrier-separated sidewalks on each side; and
WHEREAS, as part of the Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) the
Transportation Division has received a BRAC grant for the seismic retro fit of the Logan Avenue
Bridge; and
WHEREAS, to accomplish the seismic retrofit, new lateral and longitudinal restrainers
need to be added to the existing structure, and worn and failing deck joints need to be replaced to
strengthen the new restrainers; and
WHEREAS, the current estimate of the future construction phase costs is $82,600, 80%
of which will be covered by the BRAC grant funds; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to document the terms and conditions of that grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects.
SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into a
WSDOT Local Agency Agreement to obligate the funding for the design of the Logan Avenue
Seismic Retrofit, and all subsequent phases of this work.
