HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3511CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3511 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF RENTON AND KING COUNTY FOR THE ESI SECTION I CAPACITY RESTORATION AGREEMENT, IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH THE CRITERION BY WHICH THE COUNTY'S SUPPLEMENTAL PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT WILL MEET ITS OVERALL OBJECTIVES. WHEREAS, in or around 1963, the King County Wastewater Treatment Division (previously termed "Metro") constructed its Eastside Interceptor Section I; and WHEREAS, in 1965, an earthquake damaged the intercepter, and the capacity of the facility was reduced from 224 million gallons per day to approximately 173 mgd; and WHEREAS, King County anticipates that the current facility will be at capacity by 2003; and WHEREAS, various options to restore the lost capacity in the interceptor have been explored by the County; and WHEREAS, an option which will minimize impacts to the downtown area and restore the lost capacity was chosen; and WHEREAS, the County and City have negotiated a Memorandum of Agreement that identifies and addresses this project's key issues and best meets our respective needs; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects. 1 RESOLUTION NO. 3511 SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into a Menioranduni of Agreement with King County for the installation of a supplemental pipeline for the Eastside Interceptor Section I.
