HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3520CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3520 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPOINT MEMBERS TO COMMITTEES TO NEGOTIATE A NEW JAIL CONTRACT WITH KING COUNTY. WHEREAS, the City of Renton and other cities in King County have contracted with King County for jail services; and WHEREAS, King County has recently notified the City of Renton and the other cities that the current jail contract will be terminated on or about August 21, 2001, and new terms will be negotiated; and WHEREAS, the City of Renton and the other cities desire to negotiate as a unified group; and WHEREAS, the cities have formed two committees to facilitate the negotiations between the cities and King County; and WHEREAS, there is an eight-member Negotiating Team that will do the actual negotiation with King County; and WHEREAS, there is a Joint Negotiating Oversight Group that will provide guidance to the Negotiating Team and feedback to the legislative and executive branches; and WHEREAS, the City of Renton has been allotted one position on each committee; and WHEREAS, the Joint Negotiating Oversight Group will consist of City Managers and Chief Administrative Officers, and the Negotiating Team will consist of select positions from eight cities: i.e.. City Manager, Police Chief, Finance Director, and City Attorney; 1 RESOLUTION NO. 3520 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHING I ON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above findings are true and correct in all respects. SECTION II. The Mayor is authorized to appoint Chief Administrative Officer Jay Covington to the Joint Negotiating Oversight Group, and Police Chief Garry Anderson to the Negotiating Team.
