HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3541CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3541 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH KING COUNTY PERMITTING INSTALLATION OF AN OVERFLOW STORM PIPE FOR THE CITY OF RENTON IN LIEU OF PART OR ALL OF THE PAYMENT OF THE WATER AND WASTEWATER UTILITY SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT CHARGE FOR PHASE II CONSTRUCTION OF THE KING COUNTY REGIONAL COMMUNICATIONS AND EMERGENCY COORDINATION CENTER. WHEREAS, the City of Renton has planned, through the six-year CIP, to install a storm pipe to replace an upstream overflow that was constructed off of Monroe Avenue; and WHEREAS, King County is currently constructing the King County Regional Communications and Emergency Coordination Center; and WHEREAS, as part of construction of the Regional Communications and Emergency Coordination Center, King County would have to pay $144,448 of Water and Wastewater Utility Systems development charge; and WHEREAS, that sum should be sufficient to construct the stormwater pipe desired by the City of Renton; and WHEREAS, the City will agree to waive up to $144,448 of the Water and Wastewater Utility Systems development charge that King County had to pay to the City, based on the actual cost of the construction of the storm overflow pipe; and WHEREAS, such an agreement would hasten the point in time in which this necessary stormwater overflow pipe could be installed and yet avail the City of Renton of the economic benefit of having this construction added to an existing public works project; and RESOLUTION NO. 3541 WHEREAS, it is necessary to document the agreements between the City and the County; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above findings are true and correct in all respects. SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an Agreement with King County to include a storm overflow pipe in Phase II Construction Contract of King County for the King County Regional Communications and Emergency Coordination Center.
