HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3450CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3450 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN INTERLOCAL COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN KING COUNTY AND THE CITY OF RENTON FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE RENTON TRANSIT CENTER. WHEREAS, King County desires to establish a transit center in the City of Renton to better serve the community and to foster connections with regional and local services; and WHEREAS, the City of Renton is responsible for administering the state and local land use laws and development regulations which apply to the development of the transit center; and WHEREAS, the City and County have been working together on site alternatives for a transit center in Renton; and WHEREAS, the City has adopted a resolution authorizing construction of a transit center on Burnett Avenue between S. 2nd and S. 3rd Streets; and WHEREAS, the City desires to reconfigure the roadway and parking spaces currently located on Burnett Avenue S. between S. 3rd and S. 4th Streets; and WHEREAS, the parties have determined that construction of the various improvements would be most efficiently performed under a single construction contract; and WHEREAS, both parties bring financial resources to the construction of the various improvements; and WHEREAS, the City and County desire to set forth their respective roles and obligations in the design, permitting, construction, funding, operation and maintenance of the various improvements; 1 RESOLUTION NO. 3450 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects. SECTION H. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an interlocal cooperative agreement between King County and the City of Renton for the construction, operation and maintenance of the Renton Transit Center.
