HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3472CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3472 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY CONCERNING REPAIRS OF CORROSION AND BREAKAGE OF THE MAPLEWOOD WELLS WATER TRANSMISSION LINE. WHEREAS, the drinking water supply transmission line from the Maplewood wells incurred a major break due to severe corrosion; and WHEREAS, a television inspection of the water line shows that the rermining portion of the line is severely corroded; and WHEREAS, immediate remedial measures need to be taken to replace the damaged transmission water lines in order to provide the citizens of Renton with a safe and reliable drinking water supply; and WHEREAS, it would be detrimental to the City's best interest to delay work until the public bidding process could be folfilled; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects. SECTION II. The City Council hereby declares an emergency and suspends the statutory bidding process and authorizes the administration to contract, on an emergency basis, for necessary work to replace the water lines. 1 RESOLUTION NO. 3472 PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this ISthgay of October , 2000.
