Dear Business and Property Owners..
Business owners and citizens have asked the City of Renton to help revitalize the Downtown Business District
with the Boal of creating a successful city center where many people live and businesses prosper and thrive To
ensure stpccess,properly owners and businesses will need to assume greater responsibility for keeping the
area clean and In conformance with local codes.
The City.In partnership with the Renton Chamber of Commerce and local business owners,is initiating
procedures to identify areas in need of attention and Improvements.This letter is to remind our downtown
business and property owners of the property maintenance standards,which Include but are not rnmited to,
landscape,sign repair air removal,exterior protective treatments,premises Identification,and other Items,
The City has property standards for non residential btdid+rgs and properties as outlined in the Renton
Municipal code(RMC)and the International Property Maintenance Code(IPMC).These codes set standards
for building,sign,and property maintenance throughout the city. We are contacting you and all other
downtown Renton busineu and property owners regarding the property standards so that you have an
opportunity to address any aspects of your property(ies)that may need to be addressed.
With all Issues of code enforcement our goal is to help you to voluntarily meet the standards. City staff is
available to answer specific questions about your property and can assist you In developing a property
maintenance plan. Ammer allowing a period of time for business and property owners to pro-actively work on
issues with their properties,City Code compliance staff will begin addressing items that remain out of
compliance beginning September 1,2014.

This is Samantha, the tenant in old cooper tire shop- Stanley and I have met our neighborhood located in -511 S 2-st
vesterdav- Both of us confirmed that our fence is not located in their property. On Dec 23f=- 2014, 1 went to the city_
of Renton-'s office and handed in the public right-of-way permit documents to the officer Steve Lee. Yesterday_ I
also asked the officer Rick what permits I need to apply- He told me that I only need to obtain one building perinit
to finish my whole project including awning, installing Nvall tiles,and replacing windows_ Currently, vve have tried
to paint a small part of our old sign vith new color (Attached in this email), and do you think the color and the
painting are ok"Based on current cold weather and rains-it is not a good time to paint all the old signs,but we will
kart to repaint it around the beginning of April, and finish the rest of the project by the end of April if the permits
are obtained_
