HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3380 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3380 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, EXTENDING THE MORATORIUM ON THE CENTER SUBURBAN (CS), CENTER NEIGHBORHOOD (CN), AND COMMERCIAL ARTERIAL (CA) ZONES. WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 3314, as continued by Resolutions Nos. 3345 and 3347, the City Council imposed a moratorium on residential development in commercial areas; and WHEREAS, the City Council, through its Planning and Development Committee, has had an opportunity to study the issue of residential development in commercial areas; and WHEREAS, the Planning and Development Committee recommended that the moratorium be extended in the Center Suburban (CS), Center Neighborhood (CN), and Commercial Arterial (CA) zones, and the City Council also concurred in that recommendation at its meeting of February 22, 1999; and WHEREAS, a draft ordinance is being prepared, at Council direction, to remedy the concerns about residential development in commercial areas but will not be adopted before the current moratorium lapses on March 14, 1999; and WHEREAS, the City Council did hold a public hearing on March 8, 1999, extending this moratorium; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above findings are true and correct in all respects. SECTION II. The moratorium will continue in effect in the Center Suburban (CS), Center Neighborhood (CN) and Commercial Arterial (CA) zones for another six month period or until an ordinance has been adopted concerning residential development in the Center RESOLUTION NO. 3380 Suburban (CS), Center Neighborhood (CN) and Commercial Arterial (CA) zones, whichever event occurs first.
