RESOLUTION NO. 3420
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF MAIN AVENUE
SOUTH BETWEEN SOUTH 2ND STREET AND SOUTH 4T11 STREET AND
MILL AVENUE SOUTH AT THE RAILWAY CROSSING AT HOUSER
WAY SOUTH.
WHEREAS, the City has entered into an agreement with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe
Railway to make improvements to the existing railroad crossings at Houser Way South and it is
necessary to replace the railroad crossing materials at Mill Avenue South; and
WHEREAS, the City is undertaking construction and widening of Main Avenue South,
including the installation of concrete pavement in the intersection of Main Avenue and South 3rd
Street; and
WHEREAS, in order to facilitate the construction it will be necessary to temporarily close
Main Avenue South between South 2nd Street and South 4th Street and Mill Avenue South at the
railway crossing at Houser Way South; and
WHEREAS, the Main Avenue closure will occur on two separate weekends during the
month of November 1999, and the Mill Avenue closure will occur during daytime working hours on
two consecutive weekdays; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to City Code section 9-9-3 the City Council is to authorize such
closures by means of a resolution,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects.

SECTION II. The City Council does hereby authorize the temporary closure of Main
Avenue South between South 2nd Street and South 4th Street for a period of four days, said closure
to occur on a Saturday and Sunday during the month of November 1999 (two separate weekends),
and the closure at Mill Avenue at Houser Way South to occur on two consecutive weekdays to be
determined dependent upon coordinating work activities between the Burlington Northern Santa Fe
Railroad and the Main Avenue South construction contractors' schedule.
