RESOLUTION NO.~2~9~6~8 __
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON,WASHINGTON,EXTENDING
THE PERIOD OF VALIDITY OF LAND USE APPROVALS AND
DEVELOPMENT PERMITS.
WHEREAS,the Puget Sound area has undergone a substantial
tightening of credit for development projects;and
WHEREAS,current employment forecasts point to a diminishing
labor market in the Puget Sound area with a corresponding loss of
demand for office buildings;and
WHEREAS,the developers and city staff have invested
substantial amounts of time in land use,building and subdivision
activities which result in various approvals and permits;and
WHEREAS,106s of those various approvals and permits would be
detrimental to the city and the.general public;
NOW,.'THEREFORE,THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY'OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON,DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects.
SECTION II.The City Council hereby authorizes the
administration to extend the normal "period of validity"that would
otherwise apply for existing or new land use,building and
subdivision approvals and permits,for a maximum period of twelve
(12)months.This time shall be in addition to any other time
permissible under City Code.
SECTION III.This approval shall be retroactive to any land
use,building and subdivision permit or approval that was valid

through November 1,1992,or any major application anticipated to
expire before December 31,1993.
