HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2810 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2810 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE COMMITMENT OF FUNDS TO MATCH THOSE FUNDS FROM THE CONSERVATION FUTURES LEVY FUND AND ESTABLISHING THE SOURCE OF THOSE MATCHING FUNDS. WHEREAS, the City of Renton, Washington, is in the process of acquiring certain property for open space; and WHEREAS, the City of Renton entered into an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with King County on April 23, 1990, which provides for the acquisition of monies through the Conservation Futures Levy Fund, for the purpose of acquiring open space; and WHEREAS, King County has allocated the following amounts from the Conservation Futures Levy Program for the following projects : Honey Creek - $3, 000 . 00, Black River Forest - $9, 000 . 00, and May Creek Trailhead - $2,250 . 00; and WHEREAS, Article VI, Section 6 . 1 of the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement between King County and the City of Renton requires that the city take appropriate legislative action to commit funds for the purpose of matching the amounts allocated by King County; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton considers it in the best public interest to participate in the following projects : Honey Creek, Black River Forest, and May Creek Trailhead; and WHEREAS, the City of Renton has access to funds through the King County Open Space Bond Proceeds and the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition Fund. 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2R1n NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects . SECTION II. The city shall set aside $12, 000 . 00 from the King County Open Space Bond Proceeds for the purpose of matching those funds allocated from the Conservation Futures Levy Program for the Honeycreek and Black River Forest Projects . SECTION III. The city shall set aside $2, 250 .00 from the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition Fund for the purpose of matching those funds allocated from the Conservation Futures Levy Program for the May Creek Trailhead. SECTION IV. The City of Renton will be matching $106, 950 . 00 of Conservation Futures Levy Fund monies with $106, 950 . 00 of Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition Fund monies approved for the city's use. SECTION V. Those funds received from King County from the Conservation Futures Levy Program will be used in the acquisition and development of the projects herein identified and in the amounts herein described. SECTION VI. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to take whatever steps are necessary to complete the process for acquisition of those funds allocated by King County pursuant to the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement. 2 RESOLUTION NO. 2810 PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 20th day of August, 1990 .
