HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2827 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2827 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING A TRAFFIC MITIGATION PLAN FOR THE GRADY WAY TRANSPORTATION BENEFIT ZONE AS A CITY POLICY UNDER THE STATE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY ACT. WHEREAS, the City of Renton has undertaken a study of traffic conditions known as the Grady Way Benefit Area Assessment Study; and WHEREAS, the area within the Grady Way Transportation Benefit Zone has experienced rapid growth which generates substantial additional traffic; and WHEREAS, the transportation system is inadequate to support the present development and the projected business development within the Grady Way Traffic Benefit Zone. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects . SECTION II. The Grady Way Transportation Benefit Zone is hereby created with its boundaries as follows : The Burlington Northern Railway main line on the west, Burlington Northern east side branch on the north, and I-405 on the east and south. SECTION III. The Grady Way Transportation Benefit Area Assessment Study is hereby adopted by the City of Renton as a factual document and the traffic mitigation charges included therein are hereby adopted by the City of Renton as policy under the State Environmental Policy Act. 1 w RESOLUTION NO. 2827 SECTION IV. The administrative staff is authorized and directed to apply the mitigation fee in an equitable manner, to negotiate fees under this policy in a manner that utilizes sound engineering and legal principles, and to coordinate and cooperate with developers and property owners to utilize sound planning and engineering practices which reduces daily trips and thereby reduces the need for transportation mitigation.
