HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 4467Amends ORD 84304.4386.4343.4441 Amended by ORD 4485..'47"21 - CITY OF RENTON,WASHI~GTON ORDINANCE NO.4467 ·AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON,WASBINGTON,·AMENDING SUBSECTION 8-4-31.C OF CHAPTER 4,WATER;SUBSECTIONS 8-5- IS.C.4 AND 8-S-15.D OF CHAPTER 5,SEWERS;OF TIT~E VIII (HEALTH AND SANITATION),OF ORDINANCE NO.4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF.RENTON, WASHINGTON"RELATING TO AHlWAL INCOME ELIGIBILITY THRESHOLDS AND RATES FOR LOW-INCOME SENIORS AND DISABLED CUSTOMERS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I.Subsection 8-4-:h.c of Chapter 4,Water,of Title VIII (Health and Sanitation),of Ordinance No.4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinance of the City of Renton,Washington"is .hereby amended by adding the following subsection which reads as follows: 8-4-31.C.5:For those senior citizens,sixty-two years of age or older and/or disabled citizens,when such seniors and/or disabled citizens are not otherwise eligible for special rates as. low-income seniors and/or disabled citiz~ns,but who qualify for property tax exemption pursuant to ROW 84.36.381.5(a)and are not residents of the City of Renton shall be exempt from the 50% utility surcharge applicable to those customers not residents of the City.To receive this exemption the applicant must provide the in~or,mation required under section 8-4-31.A,and further must sign a covenant to support annexation of the property serviced by the utility,to the City. .SECTION II.Subsection 8-S-15.C.4 of Chapter 5,Sewers,of Title VIII (Health and Sanitation),of Ordinance No.4260 entitled ORDlNANCENO.4467 "Code of General Ordinances of the City olf Renton,Washington"is hereby amended to read as follows: 8-5-1S.C.4.a:The property to be served is within a drainage. basin where service can be provided with gravity flow via the existing Renton sewer system,the property is not w.ithin a sewer service district that has service available through .existing or gravity extension of existing facilities,and the property owner -executes an agreement by which the owners,their heirs,successors or assigns t agree and .covenant to sign a petition to annex the property into the City. 8-S-15.C.4.b:The Planning/Building/Public Works Department mandates design standards and criteria for the property{ies) requesting service without annexation.King County Boundary Review Board approval of service and service agreements with adjacent districts will be obtained,when necessary,prior to issuance of the public works permit.The property owner will obtain and pay for all required permits,including but not limi:ted to City side sewer permits and County right-of-way permit (if necessary),The property owners will be responsible for their fair share of the cost of the'installation of the sewer main either through direct costs or latecomer's assessments. 8-5-15 .C.4.c:The rates to such special users shall be one and one-half (1-1/2)times the basic City rates applicable to resident users for similar services plus any monthly fees levied by "Metro"except that such exemptions and discounts as provided in subsections 8-5-15.D.4 and 5 and 8-4-32 shall likewise apply to these rates. 2 SECTION III.
