HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3364 1 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3 3 6 4 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITIES OF RENTON AND KENT RELATING TO POTENTIAL ANNEXATION AREA DESIGNATION. WHEREAS, the Washington State Growth Management Act of 1990, codified as RCW 36.70A.110(2), requires each city within King County to propose a location of an urban growth area; and WHEREAS, rules for designating potential annexation areas for cities within the county- wide urban growth boundary have been adopted by county-wide planning policies approved by Ordinance 10450 and Ordinance 11446 of the King County Council; and WHEREAS, county-wide planning policy LU-31 states that in collaboration with the adjacent counties and cities in King County, and in consultation with the residential groups in affected areas, each city shall designate a potential annexation area(PAA); and WHEREAS, it is in the public interest that the cities of Renton and Kent cooperate to designate logical and achievable PAA boundaries; and WHEREAS,the cities of Renton and Kent have established, by agreement, the method of cooperating to designate logical and achievable PAA boundaries, as well as a method to modify their respective PAA boundaries, and such an agreement being in the public interest, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects. 1 i RESOLUTION NO. 3364 SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an Interlocal Agreement between the cities of Renton and Kent related to potential annexation area designation.
