HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3239 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3239 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, a severe winter storm brought snow and freezing rain in late December; and WHEREAS, there have been major power outages and property damage as a result of falling trees; and WHEREAS, local flooding has occurred as a result of melting snow and ice; and WHEREAS, there were partial building collapses due to the weight of melting snow and ice; and WHEREAS, immediate remedial measures need to be taken to protect the health and safety of persons and property and provide emergency assistance; and WHEREAS, it would be detrimental to the City' s best interest to delay work until the public bidding process could be fulfilled; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS : SECTION I . The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects . SECTION II. The City Council hereby declares an emergency, suspends the statutory bidding process and authorizes the RESOLUTION NO. 3239 administration to contract, on an emergency basis, for necessary work to combat such emergency to protect the health and safety of persons and property and to provide emegency assistance.
