RESOLUTION NO. 3255
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO A
UTILITIES COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF
RENTON AND THE CITY OF SEATTLE FOR THE DESIGN OF SEATTLE
PUBLIC UTILITIES EAST SIDE SUPPLY LINE BLOWOFF IN
CONJUNCTION WITH THE CITY OF RENTON' S ROLLING HILLS 590
ZONE WATER MAIN CROSSING.
WHEREAS, the . City of Renton plans to design and construct a
new water main to cross the Cedar River to convey water from the
Maplewood Wells to the 590 Zone reservoir; and
WHEREAS, Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) operates and
maintains a blowoff to discharge water from the East Side Supply
Line . (ESSL) into the area adjacent to the south bank of the Cedar
River; and
WHEREAS,. .it is not desirable to discharge water from the ESSL
in the area adjacent to the Cedar River, when draining the ESSL
for emergency or maintenance purposes; and
WHEREAS, SPU wishes to design and construct a new blowoff
which would connect to the King County' s Cascade Siphon sewer
pipeline; and
WHEREAS, the City of Renton and SPU have determined that a
joint project for SPU' s blowoff connection in conjunction with the
City' s water line crossing of the Cedar River would minimize
construction impacts and disturbances and would be cost effective
for both agencies; and

WHEREAS, the City of Renton is willing to manage the design
and construction of SPU blowoff connection to the County' s Cascade
Siphon sewer pipeline subject to the reimbursement by SPU for
design activities related to SPU' s blowoff connection; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to document the agreements between
the City of Renton and the City of Seattle;
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I . The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II . The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to enter into a . Utilities Cooperation Agreement by and between the
City of Renton and the City of Seattle for the design of Seattle
Public Utilities . East. Side Supply Line Blowoff in conjunction with
the City of Renton' s Rolling Hills 590 Zone water main crossing.
