HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3184 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3184 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR AN AQUATIC LANDS ENHANCEMENT ACCOUNT (ALEA) TO THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES (LAKE WASHINGTON TRAIL) . WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton, Washington, has approved a "Comprehensive Park, Recreation and Open Space Plan" and a "Trails Master Plan" which identifies trails throughout the planning area of the City; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton has approved a "1995-2000 Capital Facilities Plan" ; and WHEREAS, the development of the Lake Washington Trail is identified as a high priority in all of the above-referenced plans; and WHEREAS, under the provisions of Chapter 79 . 24 . 580, RCW, state funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land and the construction of facilities for public access to, and aquatic land enhancement of, state-owned aquatic lands; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton considers it in the best public interest to develop the next phase of the Lake Washington Trail, generally located along the southern shore of Lake Washington near the mouth of the Cedar River; RESOLUTION NO . 3184 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS : SECTION I . The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects . SECTION II. The Mayor is authorized to make formal application to the Department of Natural Resources for funding assistance. SECTION III. Any fund assistance so received will be used for the development of the Lake Washington Trail located along the southern shore of Lake Washington near the mouth of the Cedar River in the City of Renton, Washington. SECTION IV. The City' s share to complete the project will be derived from among the following sources : Block Grant Funds, IAC Funds, City Capital Improvement Funds and King County Parks and Open Space Bond Funds . SECTION V. Any facilities developed with financial aid through the Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account will be made available in accordance with the terms of the financial aid approved by the Department of Natural Resources . SECTION VI . This resolution shall be made available as part of a formal application to the Department of Natural Resources . SECTION VII .
