. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
. ADOPTING THE CLASSIFICATION. OF NONCHARTER CODE
CITY FOR THE CITY OF RENTON AS PROVIDED FOR IN
TITLE 3 5A ENTITLED "OPTIONAL MUNICIPAL CODE" OF
THE REVISED CODE OF WASHINGTON; PROVIDING FOR THE
REORGANIZATION OF THE CITY'S MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT
. UNDER THE MAYOR-COUNCIL PLAN AS SPECIFIED IN CHAPTER
3 5A.12 OF THE REVISED CODE OF WASHINGTON.
WHEREAS the City of Renton passed and approved under date
of August 18, .1969 its Resolution No. 1645. entitled
"A Resolution of the City of Renton, Washington
declaring its intention to adopt for the City
of Renton the classification of Noncharter
Code City as governed by the provisions of
Chapter 3 5A.-02 of the Revised Code of Washington;
further declaring, the intention of the City to
reorganize .its' municipal government under the
Mayor-Council plan as provided for in Chapter
35A.12 of the Revised Code of Washington"
and
WHEREAS said Resolution was duly published within ten
days after its passage in the City's legal newspaper, to-wit:
The" Record Chronicle, a newspaper of general circulation in the
City of Renton, and
WHEREAS more than ninety days have expired from the date
of such publication and no. timely and sufficient referendum,
petition or petitions have been filed as. determined by Ch. 3 5A. 2 9.17 0
RCW and
WHEREAS the City Council after due investigation has
determined and found that the adoption of the classification of
.Noncharter Code City is advisable and will provide for more efficient
and effective government and therefore it will be in the best
interest of the City and in furtherance of the general welfare
and wellbeing of its citizens to become a Noncharter Code City, and
WHEREAS such finding and determination also includes
the reorganization of the municipal government by adopting the

Mayor-Council Plan of government as specified in Ch. 3 5A.12 RCW,
NOW. THEREFORE
BE IT. ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS:
• SECTION I: The above recitals and findings are hereby
found and determined to. be true in all respects and same are incor-
porated herein as if fully set forth.
• SECTION II; The City of Renton hereby adopts the classi-
fication of NONCHARTER CODE CITY as provided for in Ch. 35A.02 RCW
and such .classification as Noncharter Code C^ty shall become
effective in all Respects upon the effective reorganization of the
City of Renton under the Mayor-Council form of government as provided
for in QnrV. 3 5A.12 RCW including the election and certification of
the new officer's under said plan of government.
SECTION TIT: The first election of officers under the
Mayor-Council plan of government as aforesaid shall be held at
a special election not less than ninety days nor more than one hun-
dred eighty days from the date of certification of this Ordinance
and as further provided for in Ch. 35A.02.05 0 RCW.
• SECTION IV: The Clerk of the City of Renton is hereby
authorized and directed to forward to the Secretary of State., Olympia,
Washington, a certified copy of this Ordinance adopting the classi-
fication of Noncharter Code City, together with a certified copy
of -any other. Ordinance providing for the reorganization of the
municipal government of the City as further provided for in
Ch. 3 5A.02.040 RCW.
SECTION V: This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, approval and legal publication.
