RESOLUTION NO. 3132
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE AND
: :-`IDENTIFYING THE SOURCE OF -MATCHING FUNDS FOR AN OUTDOOR
"RECREATION " PROJECT TO .,THE-`OUTDOOR .- INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE
:FOR OUTDOOR' RECREATION AS PROVIDED BY THE MARINE
_ ;'..:RECREATION .LAND ACT'..(.SPRINGBROOK TRAIL) .
.`::WHEREAS, . the City Council of the City of Renton, Washington, has
approved a "Comprehensive Park, Recreation and Open Space Plan"' and
"Trails Master Plan" for the urban area, which identifies a trail
corridor located in the southwestern part of the City; and
._-;WHEREAS,_ under .the -provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act,
S4av=E:---9an&,_Federa-l::_funding_ assistance has been authorized and made
s_Uva7iaE�b1e .to ai=d in .-:financing the cost of land for parks and the
._c.c:.ast.ructi-on of outdoor recreational facilities of local public
,?god e,-s-; .and
WHEREAS, the City Council of. the City of Renton considers it in
the best public interest to acquire 23 . 78 acres of land in the
southwestern part of the Citygenerally located along Springbrook
Creek;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I . The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II . The Mayor is authorized to make formal application
to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for funding
assistance.

SECTION III . Any fund assistance so received shall be used in
the acquisition of acreage located adjacent to the southwestern part
-.:.o.f. ..the City of Renton, Washington.
SECTION IV. The City' s share of the project will be derived
_...<..TLf.rom,,rOpen Space Bond Issue Funds, King County Conservation Futures
,-%Levy°.Funds .and. King County .Fee-in-Lieu of Funds .
:. `SECTION V. Any property acquired with financial aid through
the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation shall be placed in
. use as an outdoor recreation facility or habitat conservation area and
:.be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and
.-:-,-agre-ed to by the City _Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
—Recreation, .and any .affected federal agency.
. SECTION VI. The City of Renton does hereby certify that the
City is responsible to . support all non cash commitments from third
parties to .the local share should they not materialize.
SECTION VII. This resolution shall become part of a formal
app.licat.ion to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
SECTION VIII . Adequate notification has. been given and
opportunity provided for public input.
