RESOLUTION NO. 3152
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT
WITH OKANOGAN COUNTY JAIL FOR JAIL SERVICES.
WHEREAS, the City of Renton, from time to time, finds it
necessary to house prisoners at other facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Renton has made contact with the Okanogan
County Jail regarding housing of prisoners; and
WHEREAS, the City of Renton can house prisoners at the
Okanogan County Jail at a cost far less than the costs to house
prisoners at King County Jail ; and
. WHEREAS, Okanogan County currently provides for transport of
prisoners .from other agencies to the Okanogan County Jail; and
WHEREAS, the Interlocal Cooperative Act, RCW 39 .34, and the
City and County Jails Act, RCW 70 .48, allow for governmental
subdivisions to contract for the housing of prisoners; and
WHEREAS, the Okanogan County Sheriff and the City of Renton
Police Department have agreed in concept regarding the housing of
Renton prisoners;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to enter into an agreement with Okanogan County for jail services .
