HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3033 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3033 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN INTERLOCAL COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE MUNICIPALITY OF METROPOLITAN SEATTLE (METRO) FOR A JOINT DEMONSTRATION PROJECT FOR RECLAIMED WATER. WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 90 . 46 RCW, demonstration projects for reclaiming water from secondarily treated sewage effluent was encouraged for use in commercial and industrial activities; and WHEREAS, METRO and the City of Renton have proposed to jointly undertake such a demonstration project; and WHEREAS, the demonstration project will provide information about the feasibility, technology and day-to-day operational characteristics of a reclamation facility and the availability of markets for reclaimed water; and WHEREAS, the City of Renton will, under the interlocal agreement, invest $50, 000 . 00 in this project out of the estimated $2 . 6 million cost of the project; and WHEREAS, Renton will reimburse METRO 70% of Renton ' s rate revenue from selling the water to retail customers, pursuant to the interlocal agreement; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Renton to enter into this interlocal agreement; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS : SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects . 1 RESOLUTION NO. 3033. SECTION II . The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an Interlocal Cooperative Agreement with METRO to participate in a joint reuse water demonstration project for water from secondarily treated sewage effluent for use in commercial and industrial activities .
