RESOLUTION NO. 3034
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN
INTERLOCAL COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE WASHINGTON
STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE RECEIPT AND
USE OF GRANT MONIES FOR THE STUDY OF AN INTRACITY
INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City of Renton recognizes that transit
improvements are a vital component of the transportation system' s
ability to absorb future traffic demand; and
WHEREAS, the City of Renton has adopted a commute trip
reduction ordinance which mandates reductions in the percentage of
commuters that may drive alone to work; and
WHEREAS, some of the shift from single occupant vehicles may
be to transit; and
WHEREAS, the City' s six year transportation improvement
program includes a transit project to determine short-range and
long-range transit needs, routes and facilities, including the
study of an intra-Renton shuttle; and
WHEREAS, the State is prepared to give the City of Renton a
grant to undertake an intracity intermodal transportation program
study; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to adopt an agreement to control the
use of the grant funds .
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :

SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to enter into an Interlocal. Cooperative Agreement with the
Washington State Department of Transportation for grant funding for
an intracity intermodal transportation program study.
