RESOLUTION NO. 3040
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF RENTON AND THE STATE OF
WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY TO PROVIDE GRANT FUNDING
TO IMPLEMENT WASTE REDUCTION EDUCATION PROGRAMS AS WELL
AS ORGANICS COLLECTION AND COMPOSTING PROGRAMS.
WHEREAS, the City of Renton is a participant in the King
.County Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan and the Local
Hazardous Waste Management Plan for Seattle-King County; and
WHEREAS, the Washington State Department of Ecology has
established a grant program entitled "Coordinated Prevention
Grant" ; and
__WHEREAS, the City of Renton is eligible for funding to
implement waste reduction education programs as well as programs
for .organics collection and composting in the Coordinated
Prevention Grant 1994-1995 cycle; and
WHEREAS, the Washington State Department of Ecology has
offered the City of Renton a 60% grant for its estimated costs of
.$127, 042 for implementing those programs;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to execute a Coordinated Prevention Grant Agreement Between the
Washington State Department of Ecology and the City of Renton to

provide grant funding to implement waste reduction education
programs as well as programs for organics collection and composting
in 1994 and 1995 .
