HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3048 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 3048 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE AND IDENTIFYING THE SOURCE OF MATCHING FUNDS FOR AN OUTDOOR RECREATION PROJECT TO THE INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION PROVIDED BY THE MARINE RECREATION LAND ACT (CEDAR RIVER SPORTS COMPLEX) . WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton, Washington, has approved a "Comprehensive Park, Recreation and Open Space Plan" and "Trails Master Plan" for the urban area which identifies a greenway system and parks located in the eastern part of the City; and WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act, State and Federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available- to aid in financingthe cost of land for arks and the P construction of outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton considers it in the best public interest to develop a portion of the 45 acres of land adjacent to the Maplewood Golf Course, Cedar River and the Cedar River Trail as part of the City' s Cedar River Greenway System in the eastern part of the City; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I . The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects . SECTION II . The Mayor is authorized to make formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for funding assistance. 1 RESOLUTION NO. 3048 SECTION III . Any fund assistance so received shall be used in the development of acreage located in the eastern part of the City of Renton, Washington. SECTION IV. The City' s share of the project will be derived from Open Space Bond Issue Funds and City of Renton General Fund Monies . SECTION V. Any property developed with financial aid through the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation shall be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility or habitat conservation area and be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the City Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, and any affected federal agency.. SECTION VI. The City of Renton does hereby certify that the City is responsible to support all. non cash commitments from third parties to. the local share should they- not materialize. SECTION VII. This resolution shallbecome part of a formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation. SECTION VIII . Adequate notification has been given and opportunity provided for public input. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 28th day of March , 1994 .
