RESOLUTION NO. 3072
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN
INTERLOCAL COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE RECEIPT AND USE OF
GRANT MONIES FOR THE STUDY OF A CITY-WIDE HIGH OCCUPANCY
VEHICLE (HOV) ARTERIAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City of Renton recognizes that HOV improvements
are a vital component of the transportation system' s ability to .
absorb future traffic demand; and
WHEREAS, the City has adopted an interim Transportation Element
of the Comprehensive Plan (December 20, 1993 ) that identifies as its
goal the provision of a "a balanced multi-modal transportation
system which will support land use patterns, and adequately serve
existing and -future residential and employment growth within the
City" ; -and
WHEREAS,the City' s six .-year transportation -improvement program
includes a project to determine HOV needs, routes and facilities;
and
WHEREAS, the state is prepared to give the City of Renton a
grant to undertake a city-wide HOV arterial development program
study; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to adopt an agreement to control the
use of grant funds;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .

SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to enter into an Interlocal Agreement with the Washington State
Department of Transportation for grant funding for a city-wide HOV
arterial development program study.
