RESOLUTION NO. 2979
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN
INTERLOCAL COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE WASHINGTON
STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR RECREATIONAL TRAIL
CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION.
WHEREAS, as part of the construction on SR 169, the Maple
Valley Highway, there will be constructed a pedestrian trail system
within the city limits of the City of Renton; and
WHEREAS, the state has agreed to construct, at partial city
expense, the pedestrian trail system as part of its highway
improvements between certain engineering stations located on the
Maple Valley Highway; and
WHEREAS, it is economically advantageous and a logistical
advantage to have the state perform this work as part of its
highway construction process;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to enter into an interlocal cooperative agreement with the state of
Washington for the recreational trail construction, maintenance and
operation in conjunction with the SR 169 (Maple Valley Highway)
construction to be performed by the Washington State Department of
Transportation.
