RESOLUTION NO. 2998
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN
INTERLOCAL COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND KING
COUNTY TO PROVIDE GRANT FUNDING FOR MULTIFAMILY RECYCLING
PROGRAMS.
WHEREAS, the City of Renton is a participant in the
Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan (Plan) for King County;
and
WHEREAS, the Plan includes a 65% waste stream reduction goal by
the year 2000; and
WHEREAS, the King County Solid Waste Division has established
the Waste Reduction/Recycling Grant Program in order to help cities
meet this goal; and
WHEREAS, the Waste Reduction/Recycling Grant Program funds
!I projects to reduce and recycle the waste generated by individuals
living in multifamily residential dwellings and commercial
enterprises; and
WHEREAS, the City of Renton has applied for grant funds through
the Waste Reduction/Recycling Grant Program and has met the criteria
established by the County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Renton will spend its grant funds on
multifamily recycling programs; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .

SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to sign and enter into an Agreement Between King County and the City
of Renton to provide grant funding to implement multifamily
recycling programs .
