CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 3024
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO SIGN AN
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF MERCER ISLAND FOR
EMERGENCY MARINE PATROL SERVICES.
WHEREAS, Mercer Island maintains a Marine Patrol Unit and
provides marine patrol services in the waters within its
jurisdiction and on a contract basis provides marine patrol
services to other jurisdictions which border on Lake Washington;
and
WHEREAS, there is a State and Local Tax Funding for providing
marine patrol services; and
WHEREAS, in the past Renton has contracted with Mercer Island
for full marine patrol service, including emergency services;
however, Renton has notified Mercer Island that, upon the
expiration of the current agreement for marine patrol services at
the end of 1993, Renton will not be able to continue contracting
for full marine patrol services during 1994; and
WHEREAS, Renton would like to continue to receive emergency
marine patrol services from Mercer Island during 1994; and
WHEREAS, Mercer Island agrees to render emergency marine
patrol services to Renton with the understanding that providing
only such services will not result in a reduction of State and
Local Tax Funding for providing marine patrol services, those funds
earmarked for Renton will continue to be paid to Mercer Island;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :

SECTION I . The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II . The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to sign an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Mercer Island to
provide emergency patrol services to the City of Renton.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 20th day of December ,
1993 .
