HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2899 Replaced by RES 2908 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2899 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR AN OUTDOOR RECREATION PROJECT TO THE INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION AS PROVIDED BY THE MARINE RECREATION LAND ACT (CEDAR RIVER TRAIL PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE) . WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton, Washington, has approved a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area, which identifies a trail corridor located in the eastern part of the city; and WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construction of outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton considers it in the best public interest to develop and construct a pedestrian bridge across the Cedar River at the Cedar River Park as part of the State's SR-405 Project in the eastern part of the city. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects . SECTION II. The Mayor is authorized to make formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for funding assistance. SECTION III . Any fund assistance so received be used in the design and construction of a pedestrian bridge across the Cedar 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2899 River located in the eastern part of the City of Renton, Washington. SECTION IV. The city's share of the project will be derived from King County Open Space Bond Issue Proceeds. SECTION V. Any facility developed with financial aid through the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation shall be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the City Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, and any affected federal agency. SECTION VI. The City of Renton does hereby certify that the city is responsible to support all non-cash commitments from third parties to the local share should they not materialize. SECTION VII. This resolution shall become part of a formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation. SECTION VIII. Adequate notification has been given and opportunity provided for public input. SECTION IX. That the site plant has been adopted by the local governing body. SECTION X. That the City of Renton does certify that the City is owner of the land to be developed and based on current knowledge, provides assurance there are no encumbrances on the land j which would restrict the recreation or habitat conservation use of the land as proposed in this application PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 4th day of May 1992 .
