RESOLUTION NO. 2925
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO SIGN AN
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF RENTON AND THE
WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION RELATING
TO CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF A PEDESTRIAN AND
BICYCLE PATH ON THE NEW PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE LOCATED OVER
THE CEDAR RIVER.
WHEREAS, the City of Renton has previously entered into an
Interlocal Cooperative Agreement with the Department of
Transportation to design a pedestrian bridge across the Cedar
River linking Cedar River Park and the Cedar River Trail; and
WHEREAS, the city' s prior Interlocal Agreement with the
Washington State Department of Transportation related only to
design of the pedestrian bridge, and a further agreement is
necessary permitting the construction, operation and maintenance
of the facility as that facility is located within state right-of-
way; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to define the construction and
maintenance responsibilities of the pedestrian and bicycle path.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION 1. The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II . The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to sign an Interlocal Agreement with the Washington State
Department of Transportation to construct, operate and maintain a
trail within the state right-of-way.
