HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2725 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2725 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, EXTENDING AND DECLARING A MORATORIUM ON CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN OFF- PREMISES SIGNS. WHEREAS, by Resolution No.. 2698 the City of Renton declared its intention to place a moratorium on construction of billboards, which were defined as signs of 300 square feet or more, and WHEREAS, the City of Renton by Resolution No. 2702 extended that moratorium to off-premises signs of 100 square feet per face of the sign, and WHEREAS, the moratorium period of six months has proven inadequate to provide the administrative staff and the city council of the City of Renton with an opportunity to review this topic in depth, and WHEREAS, the recitals of fact in Resolution No. 2698 and Resolution No. 2702 are still valid, NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I . The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects . SECTION II. There is hereby extended and declared an emergency and there is imposed a moratorium on the construction of off-premises signs of 100 square feet or more per face of the sign, more commonly known as billboards, for a period of six months from the date of this Resolution.
