RESOLUTION NO. 2688
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
AUTHORIZING VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER TO PROVIDE PARKING AT
LESS THAN CITY STANDARDS ON AN EXPERIMENTAL BASIS
WHEREAS the City of Renton has adopted certain standards for
parking under City Code Section 4-2206; and
WHEREAS Valley Medical Center has approached the City to
permit a reduction in the mandatory size of parking spaces; and
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Renton is unwilling
to amend the City Ordinance without proof as to the adequacy of
the smaller parking spaces; and
WHEREAS it would be in the public benefit to conduct a test
as to the appropriateness of smaller parking spaces, NOW
THEREFORE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON DO
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I : The above recitals are found true and correct.
SECTION II : Valley Medical Center may conduct a test of the
use of smaller parking spaces upon the terms and conditions that
follow:
1. 8 ' 6" width for standard parking spaces.
2. 8' width for compact parking spaces (maintaining the
existing requirement for the ratio of compact spaces) .
3. The entire Hospital campus is to be restriped in order
to accommodate the parking shortage during
construction.
4. The duration of the test will be 18 months, a^4 "^"' ' `

5. The Hospital will survey its patients and employees
every 6 months regarding their satisfaction with the
Hospital ' s parking and will keep records regarding any
comments or complaints.
6. The City of Renton will oversee th Hospital surveys and
may conduct their own surveys.
7. At the end of the test, the Hospital will give the City
of Renton a full report and provide its recommendations
to the City of Renton regarding any modifications to
the regulations.
