RESOLUTION NO. 2606
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND AUTHORIZING THE
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT TO DO OR CONTRACT FOR
EMERGENCY REPAIRS
WHEREAS H. L. Jacobson Construction Company has been performing
work for the City of Renton under competitive bid contracts; and
WHEREAS H. L.. Jacobson has recently sought protection of the
bankruptcy court; and
WHEREAS Jacobson Construction Company is not performing work
on its contracts and there is no assurances of when Jacobson can begin
performance; and
WHEREAS the Public Works Department has found it necessary to
close out that contract; and
WHEREAS certain street paving projects, cleanup and project
repairs are necessary and have been undone; and
WHEREAS those items of work present significant problems for the
City and its citizens, particularly those customarily utilizing the
roads and public right-of-way involved in the construction; and
WHEREAS re-letting the contract through the competitive bid
process would require substantial time thereby prolonging the
inconvenience; NOW THEREFORE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON DO RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects.

SECTION II: The City Council declares an emergency and
authorizes the Public Works Department to perform the street paving,
cleanup and repairs through the use of City crews or private
contract through negotiated bid or bids as the Public Works
Department p tment deems appropriate and expedient.
