CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 2550
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON URGING-RESTRICTION
OF SALE OF FIREWORKS TO PERSONS UNDER SIXTEEN YEARS OF AGE
WHEREAS the misuse of fireworks has resulted in numerous
injuries to the citizens of this State, including the City of Renton,
and
WHEREAS the incidents of injury appear greater for those
under sixteen (16) years of age; and
WHEREAS the State of Washington has recently found it necessary
to tighten its laws concerning the sale of fireworks ; and
WHEREAS that law did not contain any limitation as to the
age of those permitted to buy fireworks ; and
WHEREAS the City of Renton wishes to express its concern
about the sale of fireworks to those under sixteen years of age , NOW
THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : The above recitals are found to be true and
correct.
SECTION II : The City Council of the City of Renton urges
the operators of fireworks stands within its corporate limits to not
sell fireworks to those under sixteen (16) years of age .
