HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2563 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2563 A RESOLUTION DECLARING SUPPORT FOR ADOPTION OF THE KING COUNTY GENERAL DEVELOPMENT GUIDE WHEREAS the Executive Proposed General Development Guide establishes goals and policies guiding development throughout King County, in incorporated cities as well as in unincorporated areas, and WHEREAS the City of Renton has legitimate concerns about the quality, location, and impacts of urban growth within the City and in nearby unincorporated areas, and WHEREAS, existing and future urban development must be provided with adequate public facilities and services in a logical and equitable manner, and WHEREAS, the proposed General Development Guide identifies the local cities as the primary service providers for much of the anticipated new growth and the Guide incorporates many of the other land use concerns of the City of Renton, and WHEREAS the City Council and staff of Renton have reviewed the proposed General Development Guide, NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO'RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: The above recitals are found to be true and correct. SECTION II: The City of Renton supports adoption of the Executive Proposed General Development Guide and commends the King County Executive and staff for addressing the complex urban growth problems which face all of King County. SECTION III: The City of Renton endorses the opportunities for Renton, King County, and other local jurisdictions to work together closely to solve mutual urban growth problems. SECTION IV: The City of Renton acknowledges the many positive elements incorporated in the Executive Proposed General Development Guide and is pleased to find recognition and inclusion within the Guide of many of the points of view and concerns raised by the local cities. SECTION V: The City of Renton urges the King County Council and Executive to give due consideration to the remaining specific concerns expressed more particularly in a letter dated August 13, 1984, from the Renton City Council. SECTION VI: Both the staff and elected officials of the City of Renton stand ready to work cooperatively with King County and other. jurisdictions to solve mutual urban development problems and to assist in implementing King County's General Development Guide.
