HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2509 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2509 A RESOLUTUION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR AN OUTDOOR RECREATION COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION AS PROVIDED BY THE MARINE RECREATION LAND ACT. WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Renton has approved a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the City which identifies a pedestrian corridor linking the Cedar River with the Central Business District and redevelopment of the City' s old shop site as high priorities ; and WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act , state and federal funding assistance has been. authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construction of outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies ; and WHEREAS the City Council considers it iii the best public interest to develop a pedestrian corridor, provide pea-patches , and additional parking lot in the vicinity of the Renton Senior Center; NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS : SECTION I : That the above recitals are found to be true and correct. SECTION II : That the Mayor be authorized to make formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for fund assistance. -1- 1 SECTION III : That any fund assistance so received be used in the development of th.e pedestrian corridor/old shop site redevelopment effort . SECTION IV: That the City' s share for this project be provided through the Housing and Community Development Block Grant Program. SECTION V: That any property acquired with financial aid through the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such us-e in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the City Council , the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation and any affected federal agency. SECTION VI : That this Resolution become part of a formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 6th day of June , 1983 . Maxine E.
