HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2418 'i CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2418 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR AN OUTDOOR RECREATION PROJECT TO THE INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION •AS PROVIDED BY THE MARINE RECREATION LAND ACT, AS RELATES TO ACQUISITION OF PARK SITE PROPERTIES. WHEREAS the City Council of the City .f. Renton has approved a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the City which identifies a park and trail system along the Cedar River as a high priority; and ' WHEREAS under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construction of outdoor recreation facilities of local public bodies; and WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Renton considers it in the best public interest to acquire and develop a park and trail system generally located on the Cedar River east of FAI 405; NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I : That the above recitals are found to be true and correct. SECTION II : That the Mayor be authorized to make formal application to the Interagency Committee For Outdoor Recreation for fund assistance. SECTION III : That any fund assistance so received be used in the acquisition of property located on the Cedar River adjacent to the City's existing Cedar River Trail Park property. SECTION IV: That any property acquired with financial aid through the Interagency Committee For Outdoor Recreation be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the City Council , the Interagency Committee For Outdoor Recreation and any affected federal agency. SECTION V: That this Resolution become part of a formal application to the Interagency Committee For Outdoor Recreation. -PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 14th day of September, 1981 . ,r Delores A.
