RESOLUTION NO. 2349
A RESOLUTION DECLARING A MORATORIUM ON ALL FILL
ACTIVITY FOR ONE HUNDRED TWENTY DAYS IN AN AREA
BOUNDED BY SW 30TH, SW 16TH, SR167 AND THE
BURLINGTON NORTHERN RAILROAD TRACKS
WHEREAS there exists within the City of Renton a potentially
unique and fragile marsh area, and
WHEREAS this and similar marsh areas are being rapidly
filled and thereby destroyed, and
WHEREAS said marsh areas serve as habitats for great
numbers of wild animals , and
WHEREAS these marshes have proven to be of value to
assist in drainage, and
WHEREAS the subject area is to be included in later drainage
projects which may be affected adversely by filling, and
WHEREAS it is in the public benefit and in furtherance
of the public welfare to study filling in this area, NOW THEREFORE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : The above recitals and facts are found to
be true and correct in all respects .
SECTION II: There is--hereby declared a one hundred twenty
(120) day moratorium on all land fill activity in Renton in an area
described as follows :
SW 30th North to SW 16th and from SR 167 west
to the Burlington Northern Railroad Tracks .
This moratorium shall apply to all new land fill or renewals of
existing land fill permits .
