ORDINANCE NO. 3501
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2534 AND CLARIFYING
ORDINANCE NO. 3472 RELATING TO THE FEE TO BE
CHARGED FOR PIPELINE FRANCHISE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : There was previously given and granted unto
El Paso Natural Gas Company, a Delaware Corporation , a franchise
to locate , lay down, construct , maintain , operate , alter, remove ,
replace and repair one or more gas lines within the City Limits of
the City of Renton for a duriation of ten (10) years , all under
Ordinance No. 2534.
SECTION II : Northwest Pipeline Corporation is the successor
in interest to El Paso Natural Gas Company and as such obtained the
rights to said franchise which was extended for an additional ten (10)
year period of time by Ordinance No. 3472 .
SECTION III : Ordinance No. 2534 refers to a franchise fee
to be calculated at 5c per lineal foot whereas the title to the
Ordinance refers to a charge per lineal foot only across public
property . There is also a minimum fee of $100 . 00.
SECTION IV: Ordinance No. 2534 is hereby amended to require
the payment of 5c per lineal foot for the operation and the construction
of natural gas pipelines , only when those pipe lines are running
across, under or through public property and Ordinance No. 3472 is
hereby clarified so that that measure per lineal foot shall be
charged under Ordinance No. 3472 or $100. 00 whichever is greater.
