AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING
CHAPTER 8 OF TITLE IX (PUBLIC WAYS AND PROPERTY) OF
ORDINANCE NO . 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES

VIOLATIONS THEREOF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON , WASHINGTON , DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : The following new sections are added to Chapter
3 of Title IX (Public Ways and Property) of Ordinance No. 1628
entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Penton" as
follows :
1 . STOP ORDERS : Whenever any work is being done in an unsafe or
contrary to the provisions of this chapter , the Public Works
Director may order the work stopped by notice in writing serve-]. on any
persons engaged in the doing or causing such work to be done. Any such
person shall forthwith stop such work until authorized by the Public
Works Director to proceed with the work. Any and all conditions
deemed unsafe shall be corrected or removed immediately at the
contractor ' s expense.
2 . VIOLATIONS AND PENALTIES : It shall be unlawful for any
person, firm or corporation to construct , alter, repair , remove , or
improve anv facility located on public right-of-way without the
required permits or authorization of the Public Works Director or
his duly authorized representative . PENALTIES : Every person violating
any of the provisions of this chanter shall beP unished by a fine not
exceeding three hundred dollars ($300 . 00) or by imprisonment not
exceeding ninety days (90) or by both such fine and imprisonment and
each violation shall constitute a separate offense punishable under
this chapter.
SECTIO14 II : This Ordinance shall be effective upon its passage,
approval and five days after its publication.
