HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 3636 �. amended by Ord. #4208 y transferred to Title VIII, Chapter 14 Amended by Ord # 4287 �17,R3 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO . 3636 AN ORDINANCE OF TIDE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, ATTENDING SECTION 3-205 OF TITLE III (DEPARTMENTS) OF ORDINANCE NO . 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF FENTON" RELATING TO VATER ',%'IETER CHARGES THE CITY COUNCIL OF `�-HE CITY OF RENTON , WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS : SECTION I : Existing Section 3-206 of Title III (Departments) of Ordinance No . 1623 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended as .follows : Section 3-206 , as amended : WATER METER CHARGES - ORIGINAL INSTALLATIONS : A. 1 . For a 3/4" connection within the City limits , the fee for the original installation shall' be' $400 . 00 . 2 . For a 3/4" connection outside the City lilaits the fee for the original_ installation sh.all be $400 . 00 plus the cost for e-rr:iits and inspection fees . To cover the cost of permits and inspection fees , a $100 . 00 deposit shall be paid at the time of application for the water meter . Any nionies not expended for permit and inspection fees will be returned to the applicant . Any charges for permits and inspection fees over $100 . 00 will be billed to the applicant after the installation .. B . For a one inch (1") connection the fee therefore shall be determined by the actual cost of labor , equipment and material plus fifteen percent (15%) thereof ; and the applicant for such connection shall deposit with the City the mininum sura of $400 . 00 which payment shall be made to the Director of Finance or his designated representative handling collection for the Water Department . Such payment shall be made before the work of connecting the main line with the property is initiated; provided, further , that whenever said deposit is insufficient to cover the total fee as herein specified, then the deficiency shall be charged to the property for which such installation was made and such charge shall constitute a lien thereon; in case the cost of such -1- installation is leers than the amount of depos.it then any such difference shall be promptly refunded to the owner who applied for such installation and made the deposit . C . In all cases where the service connection is larger than one inch (1") , the fee therefor shall be $400 . 00 per inch as provided for in subsection (B) hereinabove and the applicant for such connection shall , at the time of application , pay unto the City the deposit computed at $400 . 00 per inch which shall be applied as set fortl in subsection (B) hereinabove . D. All meters shall be the same size as the tap and service connection . E . Whenever it is desired to have a meter removed or reinstalled the owner of the premises supplied , or to be supplied , by such meter shall file an application at the office of the Utilities Engineer and shall pay the cost in full for such removal or reinstallat : F . Whenever it is deemed prudent , in case of a new development or subdivision , to install the service from the main to the property line , hereinafter referred to as "stub service" prior to completion of street construction , the City will provide such service for sixty percent (60%) of the then current installation cost for such service . At such time that meter installation is requested , the remaining balance of the then current rate shall be collected and paid for by such developer or subdivider . SECTION II : This Ordinance shall be effective upon its passage , approval and thirty days after publication. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 14th day of June , 1982 . %i L Delores A.
