ORDINANCE NO. 3674
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
ESTABLISHING A PROCEDURE FOR FILING CLAIMS FOR
DAMAGES AGAINST THE CITY OF RENTON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I : All claims for damages against the City
must be filed with the City Clerk and presented to the City
Council . All claims for damages must accurately locate and
describe the defect that caused the injury/damage , accurately
describe the injury/damage , give residence for six months
last past of the claimant , contain the items of damages
claimed, and be sworn to by the claimant . No action shall
be maintained against the City for any claim for damages
until the same has been presented to the City Council and
sixty days have elapsed after such presentation. Should there
be less than sixty (60) days before the expiration of the
applicable statute of limitations , then said sixty (60) day
requirement shall be waived and the City shall be given a
reasonable time to respond to the claim for damages which
time shall be less than the applicable statute of limitations .
Section II: This Ordinance shall be effective upon
its passage , approval and thirty days after its publication.
