HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 3854 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO. 3854 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE UTILITY TAX RATE AS IT APPLIES TO THE PRIVILEGE OF CONDUCTING A TELEPHONE BUSINESS . THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I : The utility .tax presently in force for the privilege of conducting a telephone business within the city limits of the City of Renton is 7.225% . The 1982 Legislature by engross Senate Bill No. 4972 , Section 4 , required the City to lower that utility tax to the rate of 6% by means of alternative calculations. The 1983 Legislature in Senate House Bill No. 263 modified the decrease in utility tax and requires that the utility tax be reduced . 175% , effective January 1 , 1985. SECTION II : The City' s utility tax rate as it applies to the privilege of conducting telephone business within the city limits of the City of Renton shall be 7.05% , effective January 1, 1985, to be reduced henceforth as required by the legislation detailed in Section I above. SECTION III : This Ordinance shall be effective upon its passage , approval , and thirty days after publication.
