HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 3868 OAd. 376 OMW-dad L"t 3 96 3 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO. 3868 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING A PORTION OF SECTION 8-715 OF TITLE VIII (HEALTH AND SANITATION) OF ORDINANCE NO. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO SEWER CHARGES. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: Existing subsection (A) of Section 8-715 of Chapter 7, Title VIII (Health and Sanitation) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended as follows: Section 8-715(A) , as amended: SEWER CHARGES, SPECIAL RATES: A. The monthly rates and charges for sewage disposal service shall be as follows: 1. Single-family dwelling units: $3.30 2. All other users: A charge of Three dollars and thirty cents ($3.30) per month for each nine hundred (900) cubic feet of water used by apartments, multiple dwelling units of every type and number, business , commercial , industrial , . and all other users. 3. Charges for sewer service without City water: In the event that water obtained from other sources than purchased from the City of Renton is either discharged or drained into the sewer system, single-family dwellings and other I users shall be charged by one of the two following methods: a. Eleven dollars and ten cents ($11. 10) per single- family residence (includes Seven dollars and eighty cents [$7.80] Metro charge) . b. Other than single-family dwellings, the Director of Public Works shall install a water meter into such private water system at cost to property owners, and the method of billing shall be in compliance with Section 8-715(A)2. -1- SECTION II : Existing subsection (D) of Section 8-715 of Chapter 7, Title VIII (Health and Sanitation) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended as follows: Section 8-715(D) , 'as amended: In addition to the foregoing charges speci- fied in this section, the following rates shall be charged: 1. A charge of Seven dollars and eighty cents ($7.80) per month, payable to Metro for each single-family dwelling unit. 2. A charge of Seven dollars. and eighty cents ($7.80) per month, payable to Metro for each nine hundred (900) cubic feet of water used by apartments, multiple- dwelling units of every .type and number, business, commercial , industrial , and all other users. 3. Any additional charges hereafter imposed by Metro under the "Industrial Cost Recovery" or "Industrial Waste Surcharge" programs required under the FWPCA (PL 92-500.) , Section. 204, or as same may be amended hereafter, plus 15% thereof as an additional charge for the City's cost of implementing such programs. ^ Every single person, sixty-two (62) years of age or older, and every single person totally and permanently disabled, residing in a single-family dwelling, either as owner or purchaser, whose income from all sources is Six hundred forty-two dollars and eighty cents ($642.80) per month, or less, and Seven thousand seven hundred thirteen dollars and sixty cents ($7,713.60) per annum, or less, or, in the case of marital community, both parties , husband and wife, residing in a single-family dwelling, either as owner or purchaser, and both spouses being sixty-two (62) years of age or older, whose total income from all sources is Nine hundred sixty-four dollars and twenty-six cents ($964.26) per month, or less, and Eleven thousand five hundred seventy-one dollars and twelve cents ($11,571.12) per annum, or less, shall pay the following rates for water and sewer services relating to such single-family dwelling in which such eligible person or persons permanently reside: -2- M -h One dollar ($1.00) per month, including the monthly rate for sewage disposal for a single-family dwelling unit. Any excess shall be charged as provided in Section 3-231 of Title III relating to water rates. SECTION III: This ordinance shall be effective with billings computed on and after January 1, 1985, and after its passage, approval , and five days after its publication.
