CITY OF RENTON,; WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO . 2289
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RENTON ,WASHINGTON, REQUESTING THE WASHINGTON STATE
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONDUCT A REGIONAL
TRAFFIC STUDY
WHEREAS the City of Renton;,i • exper encing severe traffic
congestion problems , and
WHEREAS a substantial contributing factor to the traffic
congestion is development in areas outside the city limits over
which the city has no control, and
WHEREAS, continued development without a comprehensive
regional traffic circulation plan will result in still further
congestion with an attendant increase in traffic accidents ,
injuries , deaths and property damage , and
WHEREAS , no such comprehensive regional traffic circulation
plan exists for the greater Renton area, and the City of Renton
has been informed that the Department of Transportation has no
plans to conduct the type of regional traffic study whbh would
be required to formulate a comprehensive regional traffic circulation
plan.
NOW THEREFORE , THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON , DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : That the State of Washington, Department of
Transportation be and hereby is requested to implement a regional
traffic study.
SECTION II That as a minimum the study should include
generally that area ; between 1-90 on the North, SR 516 on the South,
156th Ave. SE on the East, and I-5 on the West.
SECTION III: That King County and the cities of
Tukwila,Kent and Auburn are encouraged to join in this request.
