CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. y J 9£321,
WHEREAS the City of Renton, a Municipal Corporation, operating p
as a non-charter Code City,llas heretofore adopted and is enforcing
the "Uniform Building Code, 1973 Edition" , together with the "Uniform
iiuilding Code Standards, 11, 73 Edition" , and
WHEREAS S Ctio ,- 301-A
of said Code prohibits .any person , firm or corporation from erecting,
constructing, enlarg:.n{ ,.tering, repairing, improving, moving or
demolishinganyhu .ldi_ng or structure without first obtaining a sell io

building permit for each building or structure from the Public Works
Director, and
WHEREAS the Public Works Department must examine all plans
and specifications for the proposed construction when application is
made for a building permit pursuant to the aforementioned Code, NOW
THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF R:c:NTON, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I: That the Public Works Department shall require
the issuance of a permit for any excavation, grading, fill or construction
in the community as pvided for by the existing Ordinance of the City of
Renton, and as same may be amended from time to time .
Section II: That the Public Works Department shall rapire
review of each permit application to determine whether the proposed site
and improvements will be reasonably safe from mudslides . If a proposed
site and improvements are in a location that may have mudslide hazards ,
a further review must be made by persons qualified in geology and soils
engineering; and the proposed new construction, substantial improvement,
or grading must (i) be adequately protected against mudslide damage
and (ii) not aggravate the existing hazard.
