CITY OF RENTON , WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO . 1911
WHEREAS the United States of America will celebrate its
Bicentennial Anniversary in 1976, which year will also commemorate the
City of Renton ' s Seventy Fifth Anniversary as an incorporated entity , and
WHEREAS there has heretofore been established a local:
Bicentennial Steering Committee which is presently planning a general
celebration culminating the week prior to Labor Day in 1976, and
WHEREAS said Local Committee will engage in the planning of
various activities in commemoration of such double ceremony, and
WHEREAS it is advisable to give recognition to such Local
Committee , NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RENTON , WASHINGTON , AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : The above findings and recitals are hereby
found to be true and correct in all respects .
SECTION II : The City of Renton hereby recognizes the
"RENTON BICENTENNIAL STEERING COMMITTEE" as the duly recognized official
entity to coordinate all of the plans and undertakings for the City ' s
"Diamond Jubilee" to be celebrated in the year 1976.
The City further recognizes the membership of the Steering
Committee as attached to this Resolution and incorporated herein as
fully set forth and hereby concurs in the designation of Mrs . Margaret
Anderson and Mr. Stewart Pope , as Co-Chairman of said Steering Committee .
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 3rd day of June , 1974 .
